Key Topics:
Module 1 — Hexagram Casting Methods
Learn standardized methods for casting hexagrams, including the three-coin method, converting results into six lines, identifying yin/yang lines, and recording hexagram structures accurately. This module establishes the technical foundation for all later interpretation.
Module 2 — Moving Lines & Changing Hexagrams
Understand how moving lines (dong yao) express dynamic changes, how they transform into changing hexagrams, and how qi flows within a hexagram. Students learn to read situations that evolve, shift or reverse according to the movement of lines.
Module 3 — Six Relations
Study the Six Relations (parents, siblings, officers, wealth, children, spouse) and how they symbolically represent people, roles, objects and psychological tendencies. This module forms the interpretive vocabulary of Liu Yao.
Module 4 — Six Spirits
Explore the Six Spirits (Green Dragon, White Tiger, Vermilion Bird, Black Tortoise, Gou Chen, Teng She) and their subtle meanings such as movement, obstacles, information flow, protection, fear or confusion.
Module 5 — Structural Positions
Understand core structural elements of a hexagram: the Self line (Shi), Opponent line (Ying), hidden elements (Fu Shen), transformed elements (Fei Shen) and line position hierarchy. This module teaches students how to identify primary actors, opposing forces and internal resources.
Module 6 — Case Interpretation Methods
Learn a step-by-step method for interpreting hexagrams: identifying the question category, recognizing key indicators, analyzing moving lines, weighing Six Relations and Six Spirits, and delivering a structured conclusion with timing.
